Your poetry is so great! Item two: his big coat. His jaunty little lounge. His tasteful beard. This one feels more regular; looking at this one makes me, Katia, want to go back in time and be his friend! Victor Hugo and probably most nineteenth-century men have been photographed in something resembling this pose but none of them have maintained as much raw panache while doing so.

Dickinson Vs. Whitman Essay
If I had to pick my favorite from among them, I think my favorite would be picture 4. His almost closed eyes make me think that he is looking down at something like a book. As a bookworm myself, I love that idea and thus the picture. When it comes to all of the pictures in general, I am torn between two photos. In the first photo, Whitman looks like he is leaning down slightly to listen to what the child is saying to him.
The second photo is of Whitman close to the end of his life, staring out the window or so I imagine from his go here
