If the show is geared toward an older audience, then by all means: be as raunchy as it likes. Riverdale uses its raunchier scenes for the wrong reasons, titillating the audience and sensationalizing the show. What it should be doing is working to portray a realistic high school experience while having real conversations about sex and relationships.
